Maths Championship 2025
The highly successful Maths Championship will take place at Woodside Primary School.
There will be two age categories – Years 3 & 4, and Years 5 & 6.
As some sessions get fully booked very quickly, early booking is advisable.
I devise and deliver an exciting range of mathematical challenges, puzzles and problem-solving tasks which pupils work through, in their school groups, to accumulate points. Staff members will be able to observe their pupils take part and can also have a go themselves if they wish. All ideas, resources and materials can be taken back to school to use with everyone.
The heats consist of 5-6 rounds. Each round will be explained to the pupils and they will have around 15 minutes to work as a group to answer the challenges set. Each challenge has a set number of marks associated to it and pupils can achieve up to 30-40 marks per round. At the end of each round, the pupils work will be collected in ready for marking and teachers can spend a couple of minutes with their pupils. There will be a break after round 3.
The winners and runners-up of each heat will be invited to take part in the highly-regarded Maths Championship Finals. One school in each age category will be crowned winner and presented with a trophy. The schools placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd will also receive a range of prizes. In addition, individual pupils have the opportunity to win spot prizes.
Rules:
- Schools can enter one mixed-gender team in both age categories (Years 3 & 4, and Years 5 & 6).
- Teams include 6 pupils, with a minimum of 2 pupils from each year group.
Cost: £120 per school per age category (same as previous years)
